Vintage Schwinn

Today we live in an environmentally conscious society, marked by a global recession, and obsessed with health and beauty. It is no surprise that bicycles have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity among American consumers as a means of exercise and transportation, but also as a pleasurable activity and competitive sport. Even counter-culture has embraced the bicycle as an every-Mans means of transport, preferring the humble bicycle to public transport and cars. As a result of all kinds of colorful niche and exciting bike are thriving in this new millennium.
Throughout the country millions each day don a helmet and riding gloves and started down along the paths, sidewalks and bike lanes of our fair country, either to school, work, local coffee shop or just for pleasure.
My own interest in cycling began as many others. Not long after I could walk my parents bought me a tricycle. Huffy I graduated in a robust and, finally, a mountain bike from a professional. But then something happened. I was a freshman in high school and suddenly a bicycle passa ©. Everyone drove around in cars and trucks and my confidence mountain bike collected dust in the garage when it exchanged for a red 1968 Camaro engine fire. Who would have guessed Shortly after 4 years I rediscover my love for two wheel transportation when I went to college.
There I was, stranded in a new city, a stranger strange land. At this point, the Camaro was sent to my brother, because I focus on my studies at university. However, walking everywhere was decidedly lame. I wanted to feel the cold air running past my face, and also the 15 minute walk of calculation was becoming too much to bear, while the combating a hangover with a café and fruit expired last cookie. I was suddenly struck from behind by a ton of bricks, a young black man on a cruise rusty. Fighting the urge to scream some explicative across the yard it holy took everything they had to maintain his composure. In the dying seconds of torque We had what alcoholics call a moment of clarity. As I limped to the class I realized that I could be that guy, that lower-class brown, running broken tire on a vintage Schwinn unexpecting heels. I could be that man.
So a trip to the sporting goods store were established. It was now the owner of a shiny new bike with a silver frame and knobby tires. Ready to tackle any track, any obstacle to this horse iron was only mine to command. My whims became his destiny. Most of the fate of cycling apparently in the local bar with my friends and I took great pleasure bicycling to different wells. Often laughed at our deeds, remembering the nights we were too drunk to drive, but enough sober to slide behind the handlebars. Our laughter echoes produced by the townhouses quiet streets, the trees, autumn leaves rustling between the wheels as the fresh snow.
How to improve my cycling skills, as my interest in the mechanics of the bike. Often repair my bike personally, and because the bike was quite with extensive experience cheap. Finally I graduated from a real bike, a vintage Schwinn World Sport. It was a reliable touring bike with 12 gears and 27 inches. I was a young man rediscovering myself, losing my mind to the sirens of the city. I want to drink large quantities of alcohol and wakes up in the morning and feeling death incarnate. Instead of licking my wounds on the couch I force myself to ride. I traveled to sweat sin, the poison inside. I would like to travel long distances to visit the corners of the city he had never seen, exploring new sights and smells, and work some of that beer belly protruding who managed to emerge.
An ever-present danger, however, was the dreaded puncture. There was nothing worse than being 15 miles, just to feel the rear tire lost pressure and slowly begin to leave under you. That sick feeling in my stomach, that understanding that were stranded, and it would be a long way home and miserable, it was like nothing else. I would often pack a small pump and additional patches, but still, some homes were insurmountable and the breakdown of my trip was a great nuisance.
I tried several products to prevent punctures, number of tubes and GOOS and inserts. These magical elixirs made all sorts of lofty claims, its vendors promising dapper punctures heal forever. Some of them worked well, others worked badly. As you would expect from snake oil on the dog and pony show to cure your cold you have been often dissatisfied.
So I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a pair of Kevlar tires. I thought that if the material was able to stop a bullet, no doubt, a piece of broken glass would be an easy job for the tires. Oddly enough, I was right. Continental Tire GatorSkin has shown me to be more effective preventive maintenance against punctures. As far as tires go, not cheap, but if you really want to stop flats the well and begin to enjoy your rides then this is the only way forward.

Vintage Schwinn bicycle should I get?
I decided to buy a 1970 vintage Schwinn bicycle, but can not decide if I want the varsity / Continental style or suburban / colligiate style. What do you think?
It depends on your driving style. Personally, I get the varsity, faster but I like road bikes. You may prefer a more upright riding style.
