What is the verdict on Raleigh road bikes vintage?

What is the verdict on road bikes Vintage Raleigh 80's? Cyclists looking for low cost beginners 1st bicycle. There are a couple that I have my eye on, especially because of its low cost and my minimum budget of around 200 CAD. What is the scoop? Quality? Fall? Things to watch? I'm new to this and unfortunately I have no one to guide me through … any information is large.

::: Whew::: This will be long. Please bear with me. The brand name of a bicycle is a very small indicator of quality, if you stick with the degree Bike Shop, and Raleigh, KHS, Fuji, Trek, Specialized, and others. For 200CAD you absolutely have to go with a used bicycle but there are some opportunities out there if you are careful. 1) Each brand has different models with different levels of quality, as a result you should look more closely at grades of components instead of marks. In the fall of preferences, here are the component names to search. Shimano is 90% of the bicycles of all worlds, so I stick with that. The easiest place to look is at the rear derailleur to get started: Shimano Ultegra or 600 Shimano 105 Shimano Tiagra Shimano Sora If there is no name in the Alivio rear derailleur or has, Acera, Altus, Pakistan, or Megaranger in it, keep looking. If a bike has a label that says something like "Shimano Equipped" in it, pass. 2) There will be some who say you should look for a particular frame construction or certain materials. Do not worry at this time. When inspecting a bicycle avoid examples that are obviously used, repainting, or poorly / moderately scratched. Completely avoid a motorcycle that has dents in it. All these are signs of a hard life and it will be unlikely that you can track the maintenance history, go ahead. 3) Make sure the bike FITS! Throw your leg over the bike and pull up on the handlebars until touching the frame. There should be about 2 "(5cm) between the front tire and the ground. When sitting on the bike with the saddle at the correct height that should not be flat footed. Place one foot on a pedal with the pedal at the bottom of the race. With the bottom of your feet on the ground parallel knee should be slightly bent. 4) If you're a girl, do not discount mens frames as most women use it anyway (to install in step 3 is a mens frame). They are much more frequent, stronger and lighter than a women "drop tube" in the frame. There is a point of departure. As you continue your search later their results (make / model / etc) and we all try to help.
