OBB Derek hits Crankworks at Whistler!

Quick Bike Club News

  • Milenkovitch did support at the Self-Transcendence Du/Tri last week; congrats to all who participated!
  • We’ve gotten ourselves a Glidecam and a HD-video shooting camera, so we’ll be bringing it out at more events.
  • Jenny is back from her European travels, drop by and say hi.
  • Derek is at Crankworks and will probably have some photos/videos/nutty stories for the blog when he gets back.
  • We’ve been seeing some of the 2011 offerings from Specialized/Norco/Rocky Mountain, and they’re looking pretty exciting. More on that stuff soon.

Cyclocross Sale

Cross season is coming up pretty quickly so we’re putting every ‘cross bike in the shop on sale. See the sale list below for some especially good deals.

Windsor Park Criterium Wrap-Up & Video

We put on the OBB Cops for Cancer Criterium in Windsor Park a few weeks ago. Congrats to Ryan Cousineau, James Cameron, Adam de Vos, and Curtis Dearden for winning their respective race categories!

The kids’ race saw a huge turnout, everyone had a good time and none of the Fixed Gear riders crashed, so it’s safe to say that it was a huge success this year.

Click here to see our blog wrap-up with full results and photos from the event: http://oakbaybikes.com/windsor-park-criterium-wrap-up-post/

If you were there, there is a good chance you’ll see yourself in the video we put together of the event.

If you do the Facebook thing, you can check the video out here: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=516906581243

Nanaimo 2 Victoria

The Nanaimo 2 Victoria ride is happening this Sunday (August 15th), but today is the LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR IT. If you still haven’t, send garddogs@gmail.com an email, and rush over to the registration page here: http://nanaimo2victoria.ca/registrations.html

Hope to see you all out there! We’ll have the new video camera rolling again.

Wisper Electric Bikes

Seeing how Cancellara had so much success with “bike doping,” we’re trying out a new electric bike line in the shop: Wisper (not a typo). We picked these up because they’re lighter than most of their competition, and are sensibly specced for a solid stock package.

They’re a well thought out, fairly inexpensive option for folks looking to get into an electric bike while avoiding the pitfalls of buying a big box one.

Last newsletter’s winner was Darlene Oman, who figured out that the answer was “Tour de France.” Darlene you get 15% off your next OBB purchase at either the Oak Bay or Westshore location.

This time around I’m not interested in the “right” answer; instead, I want to see who can come up with the most hilarious alternative anagram for:
