Island Pathways
Island Pathways – Island Pathways promotes safe non-motorized transportation and recreation on Salt Spring Island, and works to try and make it a safe and bike friendly island. The Helmet for Life program in schools helps fit and supply helmets for youngsters, and puts on bike rodeos. The Heritage Map is great for visitors as it shows distances, ride times and steepness of hills. Island Pathways was responsible for 30 KM of paved shoulders in 2002, but much more is needed. It also installed many bike racks in Ganges to make it more bike friendly.
