Warm weather seems to finally be here to stay, and with that comes the outdoor activities that you can now enjoy much more often. It is the perfect time of year for one of my favorite activities, bicycling. This means that it is also a good time to remember about using a bicycle helmet. The use of a bicycle helmet can reduce injuries by up to 88% and reduces damage to the front to 65%. You should have no excuse for not wearing one.
While wearing a motorcycle helmet seems an easy way to avoid serious injury, only about 38% of adult cyclists and 50% of children under 16 regularly use a helmet. The common excuse given is that children will not feel cold, your friends are not using one, or their parents are not good role models. If you have a child riding a bicycle must have a helmet at all times. Parents who travel on bicycles must set a good example by always wearing helmets themselves.
If you are not a father, but riding a bike, you should never leave the road without a helmet. Motorcycle Helmets now weigh about half a pound and have plenty of openings to allow air to circulate through, which means they are more comfortable than ever.
